WHY DID WE DO IT?<\/h3> <\/div>[vc_column_text]Our theatre school children were getting older and so, this time we let them choose\u00a0which musical they would like to perform. They chose Hairspray, so we got down to work\u00a0and started adapting both the text and the songs that had to be included the adapted\u00a0script.<\/p>\nAs always, our adapted play does not include every scene or song of the original play. We\u00a0do this to reduce the time the young actors have to spend studying the play and so that\u00a0the final performance lasts between 1:15 and 1:30 hours. In the end, we all have to have\u00a0a good time, (Hairspray is a very cheerful and fun play), the actors and actresses, the\u00a0audience and obviously us, who always want to enjoy setting up whatever play we do. So,\u00a0we leave behind any stress and set out to achieve our objective.<\/p>\n
The play is designed to be performed by young people from ages 12-13 to 16-17. It is not\u00a0easy for them, since it is a stage of life where embarrassment occurs more easily and\u00a0because it is a play full of dancing, singing and complex feelings between characters\u00a0sometimes it does not come out as natural as you would like it to. Nonetheless, the result\u00a0was very good.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1594795808951{margin-top: 20px !important;}”][vc_column width=”2\/3″]
A MESSAGE OF INCLUSION AND SOLIDARITY<\/h3> <\/div>[vc_column_text]This play, due to its plot and message, could be perfectly transferred to our time. Diversity, immigration, integration, are words we hear constantly today. Sometimes while the scene is on the right, there is also\u00a0action on the left but in dimmed light.<\/p>\nThere are many dance scenes in which the characters interact and dialogue so it is\u00a0important to have wireless microphones so that they can speak while dancing.<\/p>\n
One of the songs (The Boys of the City) sounds several times during the play since it is the\u00a0TV show’s tune. Every time it sounds is included in the list of topics we provide, so you\u00a0don’t need to worry.<\/p>\n
The play has a total of 15 characters, some with a bigger part than others. As always, we\u00a0distribute the characters with a bigger role across two actors or actresses so we get more\u00a0involvement and a greater participation of the group. DRAWINGS<\/h4> <\/div>[vc_column_text]As you may know, we hardly use scenery, instead we project drawings in order to fill the\u00a0scene in a figurative way and provide the audience with a better understanding of the\u00a0scene.<\/p>\nHowever, in this occasion, we did not use drawings. We only used some elements made\u00a0out of stone cardboard so we could represent some elements of the scenography like the\u00a0prison and the posters of both the institute and the Motormouth record store. The\u00a0lighting of the different spaces helped us a lot to set the different scenes.<\/p>\n

There are many dance scenes in which the characters interact and dialogue so it is\u00a0important to have wireless microphones so that they can speak while dancing.<\/p>\n
One of the songs (The Boys of the City) sounds several times during the play since it is the\u00a0TV show’s tune. Every time it sounds is included in the list of topics we provide, so you\u00a0don’t need to worry.<\/p>\n
The play has a total of 15 characters, some with a bigger part than others. As always, we\u00a0distribute the characters with a bigger role across two actors or actresses so we get more\u00a0involvement and a greater participation of the group. DRAWINGS<\/h4>
<\/div>[vc_column_text]As you may know, we hardly use scenery, instead we project drawings in order to fill the\u00a0scene in a figurative way and provide the audience with a better understanding of the\u00a0scene.<\/p>\nHowever, in this occasion, we did not use drawings. We only used some elements made\u00a0out of stone cardboard so we could represent some elements of the scenography like the\u00a0prison and the posters of both the institute and the Motormouth record store. The\u00a0lighting of the different spaces helped us a lot to set the different scenes.<\/p>\n
But, don’t worry, we provide you with all the rest of the material!<\/p>\n

HAIRSPRAY\u2019S SCRIPT<\/h4>
<\/div>[vc_column_text]It is composed of nearly every original scene. We may have shortened a part a little\u00a0because it was not important for the general argument and reduced the script which\u00a0helps the children when memorizing.<\/p>\nThe script of the characters is reduced enough so that they don’t have too much work\u00a0memorizing since they also have to dance and sing.<\/p>\n
